Planning Permission
9 Answers
Well I don’t understand this at all, despite all the objections and bats and badgers they got planning permission!
They are now going to knock down a beautiful house and shop with history having stood for over 120 and 150 years respectively.
Now starts the long slog of finding somewhere else to live.

Just because you/other people dont like the plans it's not a reason to refuse them I suppose. I am currently on the other side of this - our planning application is being considered and our neighbours are causing a fuss and have submitted 12 objections (most, frankly, crazy) that kind of amount to "we dont like them"
In theory planning decisions are not made on the basis of how many letters of support or attack are made; the decisions are made in the light of democratically adopted policies which themselves were subject to a long process of consultation, revision etc.
In practice councillors may be intimidated by strong opposition (they want to keep their political positions).
But if a refusal is made which is obviously not based on valid planning grounds and policies, the council might drop themselves in it if an appeal is lodged and won and the council has spent a fortune fighting a futile battle.

Knocking down historic buildings and removing roosting bats and a badger set to build a petrol station and a bigger shop and warehouse when the village already has a petrol station and on a 15 mile stretch of road there is a total of 5 already seems so wrong.
It appears the Henderson brothers are behind it !

MM,get the local media involved asap! Badger sets and bats ARE very much protected in N.I. like elsewhere, but, money involvement for councils etc are shocking!.Was involved with a fight to build a massive car park over a centuries old proper "park". Council loved the plans for the revenue, when the story made the papers the original applicants said they were unaware from the council that there was so much opposition and removed their application! I'm unaware of your whole situation, but, as far as you can make as much "noise" as possible , good luck x
