I love tech but I'm not very good at it. Due to a recent neighbour incident I want to install a camera on my garage wall to view my driveway that I can view on my phone/laptop. As the garage is not attached to the house I am not able to connect directly to my router. Any assistance as to the easiest way and what might be the best camera? Thanks

Your router signal might still reach your garage. The easiest way to check is to hold your mobile phone close to where the camera would be mounted, to see if there's a wi-fi connection to your router shown.

If not (because, say, your router is on the opposite side of the house to the where the garage is), simply plugging in a wi-fi extender in the house, at a point close to the garage, might solve your problem:

As to the camera, any with a wi-fi connection will suffice, there's plenty on Amazon and eBay (just decide on your price), and follow Chris's answer regarding signal strength.
I've just taken a look at the wi-fi signals that my laptop can see right now. As well as the one from my own router, there are five others with good signals. While three of those signals are almost certainly coming from houses which are very close to mine, the other two must be coming from houses about 20 metres away (having passed through several brick walls to do so). Your garage must be quite a long way from your house if the wi-fi signal can't reach it.
Just a thought ,Susan.
If there is power in the garage, maybe you could fit an adaptor to send wifi down the cabling from the house to the garage.
..or just buy a realistic "dummy" camera, for the deterrent effect?
I use Swann cameras.

1. Install wifi camera to electric.
2. download Swann app
3. Upload Swann barcode to app.
4. you can view from anywhere & thru any device that has 2 & 3.

thanks for all the suggestions. The signal is quite good a the point that I would want to fix a camera. The dummy suggestion is not an option due to the fact I will need to capture any incident to give to the police as this neighbour is a complete nut case who thinks its OK to get drunk, shout obscenities that would make a trooper blush and then bash the neighbours door with pieces of wood at half past midnight. Nice!
