Brushing shoulders

I've noticed several rap/R&B videos recently where the stars make a big thing of brushing their shoulders off like they've got bad dandruff. What's this about? Usher does it in 'Burn' and I think it also happens in Cassidy's 'Hotel' video too. Do they not have Head and Shoulders in America?
