Back in the day, my 'hangovers' lasted for days. But that's because my 'sessions' lasted for days. And they weren't really hangovers, per se, more 'cold turkey'. Nowadays, apart from the odd shot of Martell in the evenings, i very rarely touch alcohol. Don't recall ever feeling 'self-righteous' about it, though.

I am obviously speaking from a position of no experience here, but surely the two do not corelate?
I would suggest that whatever amount of alcohol is ingested, and there has to be a limit beyond which the ingester passes out, then that alcohol is processed out of the system within twenty-four hours?
Similar to lack of sleep, if i miss two night's sleep, it doesn't take me two days to get over it, anymore than three nights would take me three days.
My pattern is restored within forty-eight hours - for one night without sleep, or three.

I believe that people drink to relax their natural social inhibitions.
There has been a culture, fortunately now passing, where people bragged about the level of alcohol poisoning they had given themselves in pursuit of a 'good night ', but that seems to be dying out now.
I am fortunate, I have no social inhibitions, and can enjoy myself and be absolutely comfortable in social situations without needing to 'relax' first.
