I wouldn’t mind at all when you think of all of the hands that’s been on notes and coins ,I tend to use Contactless much of the time now which shows on my phone and stops me going over the top ;)

Not sure how the "dark web" works but one of the problems with drug dealing in cash is how to launder the money. Dealers are sometimes caught with large amounts of cash which get seized as "proceeds of crime".

Drugs baron Pablo Escobar is reputed to have burnt $2million dollars of notes in his fireplace because his child was feeling cold!
It doesnt help people like my 95 year old grandmother. She has full capacity but prefers cash. If she decides to treat us all to a meal out (and trust me, if she decides something that's it), she prefers to sit and count the cash to pay the bill. Mum and I are her attorneys and we can use her card. She can't remember her number. We prefer for her to count the cash and retain her independence and autonomy rather than one of us type in her number for her. That is her choice.
^^^^My cousin is exactly the same - wants to buy, live and die by cash even tho she holds a full time job. She cannot get over the fact that she can now get her money from any ATM. She WANTS it from her usual bank.

We couldn't manage without cash.
