There are lots of things I'd like to buy, but they all seem to be on eBay and I don't know how to use eBay, so is there an easy guide anywhere to eBay, always remembering that I'm the No. 1 techno-twit of all twits! Ta Muchly and Take Care All!...I also use a screen reader, which isn't always plain sailing, no matter how smooth the welcoming ...!

I bet you’re not “ No. 1 techno-twit of all twits”. You just need a little practice and confidence

Here is a link I’ve found

But if u have specific questions not covered ask here and someone will be sure to know

If you really don't want to buy through eBay you can modify your search so eBay is excluded. Let's say I want to buy a Rolex watch. In the search box I would type
Rolex Watch-eBay

It is important that there is no gap either side of the -

I have had no problems with anything I have bought through eBay but I always check the seller's feedback; I make sure the item is in the UK and not coming from China (not always easy to tell); I avoid any new item that is too cheap; I will not buy anything that is likely to be a fake (designer labels etc).

Oh, don't worry Eve, I've had all the practice I need and I'm confident I'm the No. 1...smile...but laffs aside - "call that a laff?" chimes in Lie-in King, "you must be joking!"...smile - but Very Many Thanks to you Both Eve and Barry, I'll have a go...he says, all of a-tremble! - enter Douglas at this point, maybe!
Barry has a good point about making sure it’s not from China.

There is an option in the “filter” part to make sure items are uk based
There seems to be an error in Barry's advice for excluding eBay from a Google search. The minus sign needs to be immediately in front of the excluded term (without any gap) but there most definitely should be a gap in front of it.

Returning to the main them of your question though, Woodelf, while eBay was originally set up as an auction site, over 90% of items sold on it these days are sold on a 'Buy it Now' basis. If, after making an initial search, you select the filter in the left-hand column to only show 'But it Now' offers, you're left with a site which works in exactly the same way as Amazon does and is therefore quite easy to order from. (It's only if you're interested in bidding for auctioned goods that things start to get a bit trickier).

So, for the vast majority of stuff that you might be seeking, the 'Buy it Now' filter will be the key that unlocks eBay's functionality for you.

I hope you won't be offended Barry if I go with Buenchico's reply?...Eve, I have saved your link to look into further - but if I do try, I think the buy it now option would be best for me! Many Thanks All though.
I beg your pardon, woodelf?

:D
Oops, apologies to you, woodelf, for some reason I thought this was a different thread.
No, Buenchico is quite correct, as usual.
