Can anyone give me any advice on things to watch out for or any problems you have encountered while holidaying there. Is moskitos a problem?

Most resorts spray for mossies regularly so they're not as big an issue as you'd expect. I'm normally breakfast, dinner and tea for the wee winged b**tards but managed to get through my entire honeymoon bite-free (well, almost) :o) - if you do decide to do one of those little 'excursions' to a remote island, however, you'll be wanting a mumu, a yashmak and some wellies. Oh, and welding mitts. King and Queen for a day my arse.
Sharks can be a problem if you're of a nervous disposition. And coral. Oh, and hermit crabs can give you a nasty nip.
Hello Val, if you are used to sun-bathing topless on holiday, you will get fined (about 200?) if you do it in the Maldives. I would definately go to a resort with fully air conditioned rooms. When you go island hopping, you may visit some very poor islands. We went to one and there was an orphanage for mainly disabled children. They were reaching through the fences towards us, which was heartbreaking. I would take a very light rain mac just in case you get any rain. Normally lashes it down for a few hours and then fine again for days. All in all, there may be a few differencies, as in all countries, but I would highly recommend the Maldives for a holiday/honeymoon. Is that ok smudge?!
