My remotes all have AA or AAA bateries.Never had one with button batteries.

Also kids are swallowing small magnets which join together in the stomach and require surgery

Kids have been swallowing dangerous objects from time immemorial and I am sure that parents are aware of this.
BUT......you cannot keep your eyes on children 24/7.

Was the battery in the remote at the time?.I ask because, from my experience of changing batteries in my remotes, openingthe battery chamber is not easy for an adult let alone a tiny tot.
