Mother of the bride outfit
6 Answers
Can anyone suggest what I should wear for my daughter's wedding this November? It's in SA and will be hot. I've looked at all the typical MofheB stuff but, quite frankly, it's really frumpy for me but on the other hand I do want to make an effort for her. I can't be done with these floral dress and pastel jacket looks. I also don't want to blow money on something I'll never wear again. Ideas anyone?

Where in SA is your daughter getting married? If it is Cape Town then it is cool in the morning and reasonably hot during the day at this time but it is also the windy season. A very dressy trouser suit would be ideal. I know as i am from there. I would suggest with the pounds strenghth that you buy the outfit in SA as they have a lot of very big fabulous shopping centres which will probably give you a extremely wide choice of outfits that will be suitable for your needs.

Thank you ladies for your suggestions. I will take them all on board.
Sukkie, no, it's J'burg on 25th November and she says it'll be warm but it's an afternoon wedding (no big evening thing) so I didn't want to be over the top but as I've never met her fiance or his family I also didn't want to let her down. I love the idea of a floaty sort of trouser suit. I did think about buying it over there but didn't want to be too stressed about it and, yes, the rand is good which means the wedding is cheap (for us). Thanks again.

Thank you Spudqueen. There are lots of blacks and reds about this winter I find, even in Monsoon and I had in mind something more fresher looking and not heavy. I am also in a dilemma about having my arms covered/uncovered. I've already established that they 'don't do hats' over there. I keep looking about in my local town but feel a bit inhibited as I've been doing the rounds for months now and I must look like a serial window shopper. Also think I'm being too indecisive and unrealistic, as in wanting to look a size 10 when clearly I'm not. It's alright for my husband, he's wearing a kilt and that's that! Oh the stress of being a woman...
