Shredded Ham Hock...substitutes?

I've been buying this in Tescos as it's useful to add to omelettes, quiche or just mixed with mayo. But it seems to have disappeared from the metro I go to, and I don't see it on their website. Sainsbury's don't have if in the local medium-sized shop, and it's expensive in Marks and Spencer.
I'd make my own, but I'm not sure I'd find ham hocks at the local butchers.

Pasta, I’d just buy wafer thin ham and chop it up, I doubt it would make much difference the way you use it.

I like ham hock too and would love to buy a hock from the butchers and cook it myself and not shred it , but it's not often I get near a butchers shop.

You’ll get a lot of shredded meat even from a small one, depends how much you need/want, and are prepared to freeze (successfully no doubt).

It does indeed pasta, I have a couple of Sainsburys ones in the freezer so I can make one of those one tray things (gnocchi with other stuff, really tasty).
