Gronya or Groonya. That's the way I pronounced it anyway but I think it's spelt Grainne as JJ has listed.

Pasta, my mother in law insisted my sister-in-law's name was pronounced 'Patreese'. All the family called Patricia 'Patreese', doesn't mean they were right :D

It depends on the person. I worked with someone called ghislaine and she pronounced it the same way your pronounce elan. I've heard Maxwell referred to as elaine but with a bit of extra phlegm at the beginning
