Help. Engagement Ring Delivered In Front Of My Girlfriend
7 Answers
Our anniversary is coming up and I'm going to propose. Today, a FedEx man delivered the package which I had to sign for IN FRONT OF MY GIRLFRIEND. it came over a week early and i didn't get any shipping notification till today. She is of course curious about the package and its close to our anniversary. I really want it to be a surprise. Any ideas on what I can tell her is in the box I had to sign for? It's a fairly large box for some reason. A little smaller than shoe box size. 1st idea I've had is to buy an empty bottle of pappy van winkle, a very expensive bourbon we both love and fill it up with a different bourbon and break it out as a surprise. Not a perfect idea but it's all I've got for now. Or maybe some expensive electronics? We're usually very transparent on big purchases though. Any ideas???

She's quite good at figuring me out as well and has probabaly already had the thought it could be an engagement ring. Our 10yr anniversary is in a few weeks and we are going on vacation for it.
It's a big box. She will not think it is a ring. My husband proposed by putting my ring in a ring box and in a larger box under the Christmas tree. I had no idea. Tell her it is a surprise. Just in case she is a nosy woman buy something to go in the box and "hide it" somewhere she might find it. Keep the ring in a box somewhere she will never look (ie in your tool box in the garage, or in the Christmas decorations in the loft, or in the boiler cupboard where there are spiders, or even in one of her winter boots (she will not look in one of HER boots).
Can you buy empty (specifically labelled) bottles. That's a new one for me.
Buenchico's suggestion sounds ideal, she may well have half-expected a surprise for the 10th Anniversary so will be totally happy with that answer, with the size of the box possibly leading her away from a correct guess. But women are incredibly good at seeing through we weaker men IME, so she may guess anyway. If so, then just go with it - a week or two early is no great shakes and the nature rather than the timing of the event is the key feature - assuming she is going to say Yes .
