I was there with my youngest son. IF I remember correctly so was Princess Diana and Prince Charles plus John Major. It rained, gently. Very warm.
Fabulous evening. Very mixed memories for me now though.

I watched Beck first then the last 35 mins. Will get the rest on iPlayer. What a fantastic concert - you were very lucky to be there (despite the rain) :-) I noticed that Charles was fully decked out with Mac & umbrella carriers while Diana was left like a drowned rat :-(

Most of us were like drowned rats Toorak but we didn't care. 125,000 of us and we were happy. It truly was a maniacal evening ... Hah! I typed magical LOL.
From my OP you can see my memory is a bit wonky as I thought it was gentle rain but it clearly wasn't. But we did stand under a tree so perhaps not so bad there.
Thanks Hoppy, I'm going to record it then I can watch it as often as I like.
The only bit I didn't like was Ms Jenkins' introduction where she said Pavrotti was born in ModeRRRRRna. She rolled the r's. Silly woman, he comes from Modena.
