Is that what you meant to post?
Your link is one that will only work when you're logged into your personal email account; it won't work for anyone else. You need to click through to where it actually goes to, and then select that web address, to provide a link that anyone can use.
I don't get it, that just takes me to my gmail details. What's the forward planning bit?

Thanks Chico my mistake, basically it's a restaurant urging now is the time to book your Christmas table!!
janzman - I would suggest that the establishment is, if anything, somewhat tardy in getting its Christmas bookings off the mark - there is only half the year left people, what are you waiting for??????
It's usually not until school re-opens. Even then it's too damn early.

My view on Christmas crystallised several years ago, and it is this -

If we are going to celebrate Christmas over two days, then it should be mandatory that mo preparation begins before the beginning of December.

If we are going to start preparations three - and creeping into four - months before, then the celebrations should last for a whole week.

An eight-week-stress-fest, for a mere forty-eight hours, is utterly barmy and squeezes almost all the pleasure out of the event when it actually arrives, because everyone is too wound up and exhausted to enjoy it properly.
Quite tough to run a business with such a short planning schedule.

No one is forced to shop, book, plan on a personal level -each at their own pace is fine.
I already have one Christmas family meal booked. Where we prefer to go, if you're not booked by the end of August you may be unlucky.

I have my New Year's Eve bash booked for Mrs NJ and me. It was carried over from last year's cancelled festivity. I always book a hotel for NYE and once again if you do not book by about now you may not get what you want. If you've decided where you want to go there's no real reason to delay booking. There's no money involved and it seems daft to prevaricate and possibly be disappointed.
have you not got your sprouts on yet then?

Anyway, ask yourself what the use of backward planning is.
NJ, I can't imagine you prevaricating; but I suspect the word you want is procrastinate.
Yes thanks jno. Typing too quickly for brain! :-)

I'll stick to "humming and arring".
It will interesting see when Selfridge's open their Christmas department. The pandemic pushed the date back to 12 October last year, and it looks like it might be delayed a bit this year too, but in a more normal year it would be opening about now. (In 2019 their Christmas department was launched on 29 July).

Get those sprouts on, folks!
I think September is the best time to book a Christmas meal, at least that's what we'll be doing ...
