Why do people sometimes not respect the opinions of other people regarding a certain topic? Usually, when you say to them "i disagree with you" they will say "just listen to us, it is the truth" something like that but indirectly.

Ttt, which part of the Smithsonian article are you suggesting is correct?
I thought the only posts that were factual are the ones that end with "end of".

End of.
I mean... even the article itself, ends with...

//For now, the only examples of “perfect” brainwashing remain in science-fiction rather than fact. At least until researchers find a way to hack into the network of synapses that comprise the brain.//

End of :-)
The problem with brainwashing is all the froth that can be produced.

Spume if you will.
I call it.... ABness.
I never assume I'm right, I know I'm right. Regarding facts, where do these facts come from? normally there is a link provided to back up ones claim on here, but that link normally comes from the media, paper/ TV not to many true facts come from that area in my view. Anyhow that's my opinion.
The whole point of the advertising industry is to brainwash you into thinking your life is incomplete without buying their latest product.
It works does it not?
I agree, tc. Facts are fluid (in Leftyland)
For what it's worth, I think today brainwashed is used as shorthand for people easily persuaded by propaganda. (eg, from the aBBC)
On the sites I use, anyway. ;-)
Proof positive it works, spice. ;o)
Another good point, Theland.
I think so, spice... it's one thing colloquially, like many words we use. But sometimes people take it literally, and believe it's possible. Accuracy is good :-)
// Often they are facts, just cherry picked to back up the view being expressed.//

you mean covid = flu and 130 000 havent died from Covid are - - -
facts? oh my god
and thousands have died from covid vaccine and it makes your willie wonky - are true as well?
Well, we now know there is the truth and then 'My truth' !!
// I thought the only posts that were factual are the ones that end with "end of". - - er - -- End of.//

I agree that there is a lot of infallibility stated or latent in sentences that finish - "end of."

// Ttt, which part of the Smithsonian article are you suggesting is correct?//

and is it truer than the Bible?
Bible as prophecy
the idea that the old testament is a prequel of events in the New,
is a bit - - - sixteenth century you know

all you have to do is do a Naomi ( blank mind girl remember) and pray very hard and God will reveal which bits fit. - Real difficulties with Ruth and Daniel
