It's just one of those situations where the only thing to do is to laugh, Lie-in King.
I was refereeing a Sunday League football match when a defender desperately tried to clear the ball from his goal area with the biggest kick he could muster, which should have sent the ball flying into his opponent's goal area at the far end of the pitch. Unfortunately it didn't, as there was an obstacle only about a metre in front of the ball - my groin!
The force of the blow was enough to completely lift me off my feet, so that I crashed face down onto the ground. It ruddy well hurt (and it was several minutes before I could restart play) but, just like everyone else on the pitch, all I could do was laugh about it ;-)
