Very sad but if he is spared then that would set a precedent for cattle who test positive for TB.

The same test that condemns whole herds of cattle, I believe the owner is a vet or vet nurse therefore she may have been responsible in the past for farmers losing whole herds.
Her animal is no more special than jo blogs cow daisy down the road.
She is a vet. He was tested 4 times all clear when he left New Zealand. She's adamant she would have him PTS if she thought he really had it but she's questioning the validity of the tests on an alpaca. As she's a vet I would take what she says seriously. The police have been to her farm today checking it out. She thinks they will come back early tomorrow morning!!!
Imagine if Geronimo is euthanised and a post mortem reveals he didn't have it.
She is not a vet, Ladybirder, she is a veterinary nurse.
I bet the snowflakes wouldn't be rushing to it's defence if it was a bat or a pangolin.
Just beat me to it, Canary.
// a vet or vet nurse therefore she may have been responsible in the past for farmers losing whole herds.//

excuse me they get sacrificed because they have TB
I have to say I am truly astounded she is arguing the point
esp the bit where she says the science is crazy...

she knows the rules and the reasons for them
Barmaid when I posted she was a vet according to the Daily Mail article where the police visited her farm today. I checked carefully but now that whole article has been removed and replaced by another one where she is referred to as a vet nurse. She's been demoted since 9.30pm this evening LOL. What a shame.

for anyone who wants to sign the petition.

I won't be signing it as the animal has tested positive and the risk of any infection to beef and dairy cattle is too big a price to pay. I wonder if the woman was happy enough for the destruction of so many badgers?

She has said she would have him PTS if she was sure he really has the disease. It is the test used for an alpaca she is unhappy about.
Doesn't look like she has a choice though. Imagine the outcry if a post mortem proves her right. I hope it doesn't as that would be awful.
A shame its got TB, reckon it would go nice on the BBQ.

Anyone know where you can get some to try?
^
Apparently, ymf, given it's low fat and low cholesterol content, it's quite a healthy food source.
Quite hard to get hold of but Alpaca meat is quite similar to the meat of a deer. It is sweet and tender, lean and higher in nutrition than red meat such as beef. This is a very high protein meat that is low in cholesterol, calories and fat.
Having read about this story the experts think that Defra are miss interpreting the animals blood tests. The RSPCA should get involved and stop the murder.

Why can’t they just retest it?
Because it is alleged that the test used is flawed.
bobbi............they can and will, but if the test comes back positive do you think that will cut much ice -;)?
