I would love to just check out my credit report via the 30 day free trial on the credit expert website and I have noticed that you need to put in your card details, obviously I understand why I need to do that. However if I check my credit score I would probably close the account the same day. What I want to know is
1) Has anybody else been on the credit expert website and done this?
2) Is it easy to close my account down?
3) Is there any hidden fees?
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. Easy to cancel. They never tried to take the money. They may try to persuade you to stay but if you just say something like 'we realised my husband/wife already gets this service through his bank" they don't push it.

Brilliant, thank you for the quick reply.
Are you doing through a cashback deal? You can get around £5 for signing up via quidco or topcashback

No, i didn't have any idea I could do that. I just wanted to take a sneaky peak at my credit rating as I have wanted to check it for years. I'll look into that though. Thank you x

I'd use TopCashback as they charge no annual fee. There is no catch. I use them a lot
An alternative is just to do a one off check - there is a small charge of £2 I think
EEK ! go for the £2 once off credit report.
easy and who wants more than one credit report a year ?

SOmewhere on the Experian site
there should be a box you can toggle that asks if you want
the £2 option.

This is not the credit companies being nice
it is a statutory requirement - that they offer a credit report for two knicker
it is there somewhere.

I have used this option when someone sidled up to me and
said rumour is there is a CCJ against you.....
[ having a CCJ does terrible things to your credit]
Why pay £2? Just go for the free 30 day trial. Remember to cancel before 30 days though or they will take £14.99 (and again a month later and so on) This £14.99 contains a payment for identity protection insurance - whatever that is!
I did one of the 30 day free trial jobbies. Really easy to cancel on line and they didn't try to change my mind or charge me afterwards.

They do send me junk emails from time to time, but I just ignore them.
2sp_ can I ask how you cancelled online - i thought you had to phone them....
I used Credit Expert. I seem to remember that I went into my account and there was a tick box to cancel.

This was about 18 months to 2 years ago, so they may have changed their system by now.
thanks...
