Kindle E Readers

Both my wife and I have a Kindle E Reader and they are the early ones with the keyboard at the bottom of the unit (about ten years old) My wifes ahs started talking to her, if we press the Aa button to turn on text to speech it is showing that this facility is still switched off, any ideas why it should start talking and how do we stop it, or has it come to the end of its life?, thanks.

Is the voice narrating the book or giving voice guidance which reads the menus?
Try turning Voice Guide off in settings, it might be on page 2 of the setting menu
