Conversion Of Metric Measures - Kilos To Litres
15 Answers
This is a pathetic question really, but I've got a 5 kg bag of jumbo oats, which I would like to transfer to a plastic container. Can someone tell me what size (in litres) air-tight container I should be looking for to store 5kg of food product, please. I did look it up before buying the first container and it told me "5 litres", but it turned out to be much too small! Many thanks, cheers, Chox.

Because you want to store 5 kg of jumbo oats, and jumbo oats is less dense than water, you'd a bigger container. To figure out how much bigger, you'd need to know the relative density of jumbo oats to water.
davebro's answer of 15 litres sounds about right.
If you wanted to store popcorn, you'd need an even bigger container.
