MOT is up on 17 September and there are absolutely no slots for any day of either August of September.

I actually drove over to the MOT place and got an examiner there who did say - oh try September which I hadn't really done.

Just after going the two months and no available slots. It means I won't be able to drive my car for God knows how long after 17 September.

I don't know what to do next. Thanks for any help.

Oh
Have you tried Ards it Downpatrick?

well a little update. Like I knew it was in vain but I tried to ring - after being told to wait for an "agent" - another number comes up. Tried it - heard the number wrong - rang again 3 times until I got it "right". Guess what - they gave me the first number all over again.

I went back to the MOT centre again and asked for the manager (this is the MOT) guy not office workers (they are working from home) Extremely helpful, got a 2 September slot, also I had pointed out the chassis number they sent me on the reminder letter was different on my registration, they changed that too as they said it was important if my car was ever stolen. Extremely obliging and so a little present is on its way tomorrow - like a box of biscuits for all the lads to enjoy with a cuppa. He also had to go out to my car and check some number out and he willingly did that. I thanked him so much.
Great result.
Glad you've got sorted, JJ, and a nice thought about the gift.
We have a twenty mile trip to the test centre.
Annoying when we pass so many garages on the way but that is how they do it here and in a way it's no bad thing.
Question Author
well I'm lucky gness - I would say my trip would be a mile and a half - if even that.
Question Author
gness - perhaps you should book your test now if it is a few months away.
October, JJ so we'll book in about a month.
If the ROI has a system similar to Ulster's, I'd book the appointment now.
Just checked mine as last one was January 2020 next on January 2022
Question Author
ok gness - this is August and mine was September - I couldn't get any slots for all of the month of September online so I would filter through some dates in Sept for October
Every 2 years Helen? That seems odd
More to do with the dire situation of MOTs here bednobs
Were there not temporary extensions applied to MOTs?
Yes Corby and not just because of Covid
Must have been in a bad way then.
Safety issues with ramps shut down most of the mot centres
I'll give them a call tomorrow. Did have an extension of four months last year because of Covid which was handy as we weren't allowed to travel more than 5k except in an emergency.
They were mightily impressed with the condition of my sixteen year old Honda. Mind you, it hadn't been here long enough to drive down the Kerry lanes.... :-)
