On his mobilephone or in the home because dends where really there is unlimited data packages that are available via simonly and other contracts but nothing is actually free in this life there will be some kind of payment somewhere
ToraToraTora, my Kindle Keyboard is the 3G version, so connects directly (not via WiFi). I must admit that it fails to cope with a lot of sites now (AnswerBank being one) but it's still 'free internet'.
barry1010, I bought the Kindle in 2012 to use when travelling abroad, for the reasons given in this article ('free internet' is covered under The Clincher, about halfway down the page):

It has served me well in that capacity but is struggling now and the removal of support for 3G (no 4G) may be the kiss of death.
Etch, you've had good service out of it and it will still be a good eReader after the 3G switch off. You will just have to download your books by connecting it to your PC or laptop
barry1010, I know - by 'kiss of death' I only meant for internet browsing. On it I have the user manuals for various items, in PDF form copied from PC, for reference when away from home.
