Smoking - Why??

Asking as I’ve never smoked in my life - what do you actually get out of it?? Genuinely curious. I mean, I can understand a glass of wine or a drink - it tastes nice, gives you a lovely relaxed feeling etc, but what do you get out of smoking?? It just looks like puffing on a stick and breathing out smoke!? Honestly would like to know, as I asked a friend who smoked and she just couldn’t explain.

Very pleased to help, Redhelen. You do have choices other than fags or booze, you know
Great again thank you!
I don’t know why I bothered paying for therapy, I should have just asked you!
Always here :D
barry //I will never forget my daughter in tears begging me to stop smoking because she was genuinely frightened that smoking would kill me.//
That's exactly how I gave up.
It certainly spurred me on, Barsel. It wasn't easy, I had to take valium for a while but it was the best thing I ever did.
I promised my daughter I would give up on her 6th birthday in 1989 and I did, never smoked again.
It helps to have good reason for quitting, but I found it fairly easy really which surprised me, but yeah, one of the best things I ever did too.
Nicotine stimulates the receptors in the brain. They then release the drug called dopamine and this gives relaxed feeling . The brain however then needs more nicotine and that's how addiction happens.
I wish I smoked.

I could give up, and save a fortune.
