Is It Okay To Trash Talk About Your Best Friend If They Did Something Wrong?

I found out from a lot of people that my best friend trash talks about me, sent our chat histories to people, and basically betrayed me. I understand that I made a mistake (don't really want to share it), but she wasn't involved, nor did she confront me about it. Is it okay for her to do that? What should I do?
