43 Hidden in the clue, I'm not sure if you have any letters?
20 Hidden in the clue, with a slight jumbling. The spots are birthmarks, it's a word seen before in crosswords.
Question Author
Thanks NAC.
I was looking at Wine and Vat individually. Taken together , easy to find spots.
For 43,I have ???ED?.
I have yet to solve 31d and 37d. I thought 43 will give me enough letters to solve those two.
43 Is proper noun, hankir - try wiki.
...your letters are right.

ProfessorM, what is the def in 43?
Question Author
Got it. Had to google the phrase Friend of t get the name. New to me.

I do have two conflicts in 3d. Is that correct?

For 31d, the def seems to be Did Kindle. But parsing with 5km?
Question Author
I have the author and the two protagonists.
Have not found the eponym but the title of the book is obvius in the grid.
I will wait for the solution to see the colouring.
Thanks NAC and ProfessorM.
31d is Li(a Chinese measure approx 1/3 of a mile) and this multiplied by 10 would be approx 5km (I think) so it's LiTEN cycling around to give ENLiT.
The eponym is just the title of the book/series, which you have.
For the final shading etc take a look at what might suggest the country it's set in.

In Listener, I still have to crack
27 , need word for entertainment
34, word for advocates
16, 19 and 26.
'entertainment' = CHE[E](r) 'mostly' - [E] is extra.
34 'advocates' [S](ug)GESTS [leading pair of (ug)andans replaced by E - [S] is extra.

16 'vanishing' = GO(i)NG with HA[N] = 'Chinese' replacing (i) [N] extra
19 'marine' = S[E]A +(w)RONG [E] extra
26 M[P] = 'representative' [P] extra + 5 letters for (sibilant) 'letters'
26 MP is the representative (P extra) + esses (s's)

I thought of Sarong. Thought it was a day-to-day wear. Could not parse it.
