Im about to become a granddad for the first time in a few weeks (October 1st is the given date)
Obviously want to buy my first Grandchild a present (Yes, I know a newborn cant appreciate a gift but its my first Grandchild....)

What did you buy your first grandchild, if anything?
After all, it will be her 'birthday' ;-)

How about 'the story so far ' with as much of the family story as you can put together with photos and stories of his or her family including a few tales of your young days too That way people like your mum, and further back become a part of their life too. could be done as a captioned Photo book if you photograph any longer sections of text.

Spent yesterday/last night with my son and his G/F.
The photo book/story so far idea is definitely different....

I got aa small toy, some clothes, which I let them choose and just paid for (life with children lol). And a voucher for a local professional photographer, so they got photos at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, presented in a frame. Lots of different deals for that, but all parents like baby photos :-)
