Just watching the 10pm news with
brief footage of the attacks on 9/11. All these years later it never ceases to shock.

Not a question - just an observation from my perspective.

The war on terror will never be over. In recent years the police & security services (UK) claim to have stopped 31 terrorist plots in their later stages - 6 or 7 since the start of the pandemic.

No shock here. It was apparent to me from the first plane that this was intentional. A soft target given the accessibility of the cockpit after years of aircraft hijackings.
For some this should have been a wake-up call. What shocks me is that still to this day we as a society remain asleep at the wheel. If it can happen it is inevitable that it will, eventually. What a difference a secure cabin door would have made.
Hindsight is 20/20 but foresight is better still. No, I'm not the only one who saw 9/11 coming.

You are right, it was shocking and the USA rightly received our sympathy. It was horrific because it was on film.
