I have just e-mailed my solution of this puzzle to The Times. Whilst happy that all the answers are correct, please help me with understanding the parsing of 4 clues :
10Ac: Woman's entitlement to enter hire purchase; check it out (2,3,6) L? A?D ?E?O?D It has to be LO AND BEHOLD (check it out) but Why?
14Ac: From the back of the drawer, certain scraping out (7) E?A?U?E It has to be ERASURE (scraping out), and I get ER (back of the (draw)er), and SURE (certain), but where does the A come from?
17Ac: News here soon at church, with changes around small room (5,4,5) ?A?C? T?I? S?A?E
It has to be WATCH THIS SPACE, WATCH is anagram of at ch(urch) and w(ith), but why is THIS SPACE "around small room"?
6Dn: State highway also covers several counties to the north (7) I?D?A?A. It has to be INDIANA (state). I can see I......A is A1 (highway to the north) but can't see the rest. TIA.
