"Men are more reliable than women" - Discuss
64 Answers
When I worked on the railways, my boss said to me "You've got a really busy day coming up, so I've given you an all-male team because I don't want to risk someone not turning up".
Recently, when I attended a team leaders meeting for distributing Yellow Pages, my boss said "I'll give you a tip. When you're recruiting deliverers, always phone the men first. They're far more reliable". This was met with nods of approval from the other team leaders around the table.
The HR staff who recruit staff for the traffic surveys I work on have frequently told me that they'll try to get as many men on my team as possible because 'they're more likely to turn up'.
My boss on the railways was female. My boss for the deliveries is female (and so were all the other people nodding their heads). The HR staff for the traffic surveys are all female.
Comments anyone?
