Gromit, the problem is many of these companies were not even "little fish", their business model was appalling and not much better than a ponzi scheme. Competition is good but with something like energy it needs to come from stable companies with a strong business model. I think OFGEM should look at regulating how these companies do their business in the future.

Competition is good gromit (tho I still wonder if its better if energy was nationalized again) but IMO there were too many suppliers and as most suppliers had dozens of tarriffs there was too much choice and it just led to confusion. To me its better to have just 4 or5 large supplier's whos forced to compete by goverment approved comparison sites/league table and by for example local authoritys using block purchase deals for council houses or sites like Martin Lewis constantly moving people to cheapest deal each year
Gromit - I am looking to change supplier to. I paid £60 a month duel fuel with a small credit left over at the end of the year. I expected my D/D to go up but they want £100 a month!! Even with the increase that is way over the top and will leave me with a big credit at the end of the contract. Rang them to query this but they seem to think that is what my usage is. I went through it with them and they could not argue with the calculations but said I need to pay £100 to start with. Stuff that I said and told them I would be looking elsewhere, I have had 2 quotes already at around £80 to £85 a month.
It's a very big House, 1905 6 large bedrooms 3 receptions 2 en suites and a big bathroom (And yes the wife has this large deep corner bath ) also 9' 6" ceilings downstairs 9' upstairs. The hallway/stairs has one of those large windows as does the back of the house( 11'6" across on the bays and about 4' high.
Was hoping to downsize to 4 bed as only 2 of us but nowhere to move to. Plenty want to buy but no point if cant find somewhere else.

sorry, i dont know why i mistook you for TTT!
that makes sense. i was thinking of mine (110pm). we live in a 3 bedder though, with 2 people who'd rather turn the thermostat up than put a jumper on, and 1 person who likes to have every single light on in the house, even if she's not in the rooms she's lighting
