How do I connect Bluetooth headphones to my TV please?

You haven't told us the make or model of your tv but this guide should cover it

In essence, all you have to do is to put your headphones into pairing mode, then go to the relevant menu setting on your TV, ask it to search for devices and then select 'OK' when it sees your headphones.

However, in order to tell you how to do that in detail, we'll need the make and exact model number (from the back of the set) for your TV and the make and model of your headphones.

The TV is a Toshiba.
On the back it says LCD Colour. 32L 3863DB
The headphones are MPOW.
Not sure of the model number but inside the band it has R (in a little square) 204-720667, so I expect that will be it.
I've worked out how to get the headphones into pairing but I can't find where Bluetooth setting is on my TV.
I'm sure I've seen it somewhere though.

For audio devices you should use
the Bluetooth option in the Settings>Sound menu,
for remote controllers the Smart Remote option
in the Settings>System>More menu. Select the
menu option and press the OK button to open the
related menu. Using this menu you can discover and
connect the devices that use the Bluetooth wireless
technology and start to use them. Follow the on-
screen instructions. Start the device discovery. A list
of available Bluetooth devices will be displayed. Select
the device you want to connect from the list and press
the OK button to connect. If “Device connected”
message is displayed, the connection is successfully
established. If the connection fails try it again.

Well I have managed to pair them up but, the sound is coming through the headphones, but also through the TV.
Is it supposed to do that?

I have no idea but many people would find that a bonus. What happens if you turn down the volume on the tv or mute the tv?

You might have to go back to the settings with your tv remote and see if there is a choice of sound output. My tv gives me a choice of headphones only, tv speaker only or both.

If you're still stuck, call Toshiba's helpline on 0333 733 4422. Calls are charged at the same rate as 01 and 02 calls are which, if you've got spare minutes on an 'included calls' package on your mobile (or, for example BT's Anytime Calls package on your landline), means that they could be free.

Lines are open for over an hour yet today. (0900-1800 Mon to Sat, 1000-1600 Sun)

I don't think I have the confidence to phone someone for technical advice, but I'm not too bad at working things out for myself and even if I can't, it doesn't really matter.
The reason I wanted to know was because, I've had these headphones for years and wasn't sure if they were Bluetooth or not, but because of the lack of subtitles recently I've had to wear headphones but it was a bit of a palaver plugging and unplugging them so that's why I thought I would see if the other headphones were Bluetooth and this is good because there are some channels on Freeview that don't have subtitles so it's going to be handy now I know how they work.

Barry and Chris, if you come back to this thread, it's just to let you know I've managed to sort it.
I failed to tell you that because I felt the sound was poor on the TV, I bought a sound bar which obviously is plugged into the TV.
Now I've turned the sound bar off, the sound is now just coming through the headphones. :-)

Lol bednobs . I think JJ is more technically minded than I am as I think she uses a smart phone and possibly a tablet whereas I have never mastered those. I'm still messing about on the old PC and still learning. :-)

Tablets are dead easy to use, far easier than a PC for most things, depends what you use your PC for.

My aged relatives struggle to use a tv, so many little buttons on the remote and too easy to try and use it upside down. These things that are supposed to make life easier often don't for many people. Not suggesting you are old, Barsel, but there is nothing natural about tech.
