Spoke to my GP yesterday evening regarding mobility difficulties, which resulted in a very efficient occupational therapist coming round this afternoon with all sorts of helpful equipment. Hospital electric bed arriving tomorrow. Still living downstairs until I heal. No more sleeping on the sofa, and Mr Lottie will get some well deserved rest and I can use the loo by myself. Relief!!

We were getting worn out!

I did answer you in the wee small hours, Lottie.

Great you have the bed in situ.

Attendance allowance is paid to whoever qualifies for care and is available to all regardless of savings, etc. It is not taxable. Carers allowance is paid to the carer.

Question Author
Now going to test my wonder bed. Knowing me I will end up being tossed to the floor!
i think it's because CA is meant to "replace" the money you could have earned by working, but couldn't because you were caring for your caree. As a retired person, you are not expected to work
Im sorry if im being thick, but your inflatable cusion, is it for sitting on or raising you from the floor? I have been thinking about getting one of the latter. Also, i looked at your previous thread but couldnt see ep3. Im sorry you have been having such a horrible time
Invalid Care Allowance (ICA) was a benefit introduced in the 1970s and then replaced in 2002 by Carer's Allowance.
Question Author

And Bednobs, I think Episode 2 should have been Episode 3 and Episode 2 was after I returned from hospital but I didn't label it!
It doesn't take much to confuse me lottie. I wanted to find out about those sit me up cushions that raise you from the floor. Did you just get yanked up or did they use one?
Question Author
Yes, they used one. Apparently not all ambulances carry one, which is why we has to wait so long. They are very expensive. On the second all at the top of the stairs where I dislocatedthe couldn't use it. So I had gas and si whilst intake down stairs by stair on my bum. It took about half an hour.
You must have been in agony :-(
Question Author
I was. And my typing is getting worse!!! It was my knee that was dislocated and I came down stair by stair.
Ow! Sympathy and empathy re knee disliocation!! Having experienced the same too many time to count (first at age 11) it is so painful. My own bum Squinches in sympathy !
