I am no expert, but I would suggest that the power of suggstion is stronger in some cultures than others.

This can mean that someone can be convinced that they are 'cursed' to the point where their own mind can cause a physical reaction, thus appearing to mean that a 'curse' has been effective.

This is probably not the best site to enquire - you are unlikely to find anyone on here with direct experience of this sort of thing.

Prudie you make a very good point. I think the Op is concentrating on certain aspects of these religions -the possibility of doing harm to others - Voodoo is a religion, while Blackmagic would come under the huge panoply of 'Devil Worship' and Witchcraft is more associated with Wicca. All have potential to do harm, but only Witchcraft warns of consequences of doing harm to others.

Like a lot of things, including all Religions, it becomes 'real' if you believe in it.
