I was in a Woolworths shop last Monday and they were selling Christmas decorations, crackers and tinsel etc. Is this a record?

If you get Boomerang - which is a kids satellite channel - they are having a Christmas special weekend this weekend - my kids are already asking when they can write their Christmas lists. It does seem a bit early to see stuff for sale in the shops though - were they playing "Merry Christmas Everyone" by Shaking Stevens??
I can't say I've seen any decorations around yet - thank goodness! The earliest I've ever spotted any was at the end of August/beginning of September! But you always know when Christmas is on the way, when Argos bring out their Winter catalogue - which is in about a month's time!! Get those lists done now, otherwise everything will be sold out by September!!
And why not?. You expect seasonal fruit and veg all year round, the football goes on (and on) throughout the Summer, kids are taken out of school during term time to go on Winter and Summer holidays, Mrs Postie buys her Christmas cards in the January Sales. If Woolies can turn a profit after seeing a hole in the market, good luck to them.
Firstly "good grief! - first there is the pit, then the abyss, and now we're sinking into it" (thanks McCarthy) Christmas preparations in June? enjoy the summer for god's sake, we get so little of one in the UK anyway! (not even going to think of Christmas until December in the Vader household) secondly Postie - have to disagree: strawberries in june/july, apples in september, nuts in december. salad veg in summer, wintergreens, sprouts in winter. A time and a place for everything in life - appreciated more when it happens then.
