Mystic Topaz

Hi peeps,
bought my wife a mystic topaz ring quite a few years ago and over time its became tight on her finger, now I woild like to have it enlarged but have been told by a friend that it cant be done as heating the ring up will ruin the topaz, is this true and if so is there any other way it can be done,T.I.A for any replies

The jeweller you take it to will give you the best advice. I don't think they heat the whole ring, just cut the band and add a new bit of gold and heat that piece.

Heat could turn the topaz irreversibly white but a good jeweller will have no problem removing the stone first or using a heat shield.
