5 Answers
hi when i start my computer one of my svhosts eventually runs at 100% cpu, and when i cancel it i loose my sound. i know theres a command for dos which shows a list of processes and things like svhost, but shows in more detail, so for each svhost it would show which processes/dlls it was running. im hoping someone can tell me what this command is because, im missing my music!

I have a similar problem and after much fault-finding I am beginning to suspect that there is a problem in one of the many MS updates that I have installed recently.
I am still investigating but it seems that quite a few others are having the same issue.
I too can get the PC back up to expected performance by terminating one of the svchost instances in Task Manager. I too then lose my sound drivers.

I don't know what the DOS command is, but you could use the excellent and free Process Explorer which sounds like it does what you're trying to achieve.
I don't think it's relavent in your case, (but I'll say it anyway!) but this sort of thing has happened to me on several different machines. In every case it was a USB device causing it, but I think it was showing up as the "system" service using all the processor time.
