Gas Bill too high
6 Answers
I have just had a gas bill for nearly 300 for 5 months worth of gas in a 2-bed house, I was a single mum at the time out at work and its from March - July so not the coldest months we had a combi boiler and a gas hob but electric everything else, all I can see different from my last bill is the KW/h used, on my last bill 379 unit = 4188KW/h but on my latest bill 317 units = 9994 kw/h - I dont understand how less units can equal more kw/h? very confused and don't know what to do??

Have just spoken to EDF energy and they have admitted there is some mistake and it isn't right, they think I have been billed for the wrong type of meter, and are looking into it, just hope I dont get court action over the existing bill in the mean time. Shows how easy they can overcharge people, as all the meter reading on the bill were correct - it was the kw/hr that were worked out incorrectly, who would usually think of checking those?
This sort of thing happened to me last summer...I was charged nearly the same as the whole of the previous years bill in just the summer (strange that when you don't even have your heating on in the summer) so after much worry and umpteen calls to the energy supplier who were adamant that the bill was correct I insisted that the metre was checked by an independant company ...long story I know ..short version is.. bill was scrapped and i never had to pay cos the metre was faulty so get it checked and don't back down
