Can Snow Cause An Orange Moon?

I know wild-fires and dust can but unless they have taken over Devon.....an incredible colour of caramel-burnt orange in the sky on my return from work a few minutes ago.....

I saw the moon about that time from my bedroom window. Unfortunately it was just an ordinary moon.
Mamya's link is from February...a full moon. Last night's wasn't. Is it still considered a snow moon?

I think so in snow being the cause - it was a rather dramatic sight.

Have you ever noticed that when it is snowing heavily, or sometimes in a heavy hailstorm, that the sky takes on a distinct yellow or lemon colour. Must admit I have wondered about it for a long time and always put it down to some sort of prismatic effect, caused by the snowflakes or hailstones, that alters the visible spectrum. I never eat the yellow snow either.

Snow Moon is a name used in some cultures for a full moon in February since there is a lot of snow in that month.

It doesn't appear to mean a red appearance is caused by snow in the air.

Just had a quick look and the yellowish hue is called Mie scattering. Interesting.

oh, sorry, that story wasn't about this month at all. I suppose at this time of year it's possible they're being doused in brandy and set on fire at dinner time.

I was out and about on Friday with my son. We had been up to Betws y Coed to have a look at something and on the way back the sky went just like in the pictures below. As we got closer to Conwy we drove into the perhaps the heaviest hailstorm that I have ever encountered.
