I really admired her for making this decision. It did help though that she would have had to face driving on the opposite side of the road to the one she was used to. She had previously lived in Germany. Makes me wonder though -just how will I get on without a car when I reach the age where I feel it is time to give up driving? My car is a major part of my independence! A very frightening thought!!! There's quite a few people 'over a certain age' who will never have taken a driving test in the first place. They will have learnt in the forces in the war and just been given a licence. They will ahve driven well enough and long enough if they haven't yet killed themselves, so apart from sight tests and the medical, which already exist, then no. #
