Christmas Dinner In The Movies

Whenever we see a movie or an advert about Christmas we see a table laden with food and someone bringing the turkey, with great ceremony, to the table and carving it there whilst presumably all the other food is getting stone cold. I never serve my guests ready loaded plates of food but always present it in dishes for them to help themselves, and that includes all the meat I've sliced in the kitchen, so my Christmas table is laden with food - just as we see in the movies - I just don’t do the turkey ceremony. Does anyone?

No. All carved and all food ready to serve themselves from the kitchen. Bread sauce cranberry and gravy on the table
Its ok if you have a table like the Reagans.

can't remember - it's so long since I had a Xmas dinner!
err indoors does what you do naomi. I slice the meat in the kitchen for her.
For every roast dinner, including Christmas Day, I serve some sliced meat and a scoop of gravy on a piping hot plate. The veg, stuffing, pigs in blankets, toasties, etc, etc are in serving dishes for them to plate up themselves. Extra sliced meat and gravy is also on the table.
*roasties*
My father used to stand outside on the patio in the rain barbecuing the turkey. (The barbie was one of those with a lid on it.)

It was quite a ceremony when he brought it in and took off all the wet-weather gear ;o)
Those tables are laden with so much food. Can anybody really eat that much??
....well, they started at the beginning of November, so should have got through it by now :)
While I'm not fond of Turkey and don't have it, a gloriously golden, crispy skinned bird is a lovely sight. So I can see the benefit of presenting it at the table. I can certainly remember it happening as a child.
