My sofa was delivered today but the corner part wouldn't fit through the porch and front door. They tried 4 times. The grass ally way at the back can only be accessed from the end of the road and it was too muddy to walk it down to my garden gate. They've had to take it back to the warehouse and will call me to arrange redelivery.

I was hoping to be sitting on it this evening but sadly not. Really upset but guess it's a first world problem in the grand scheme of things.

Oh noes! I bet your door is standard size, too.
I once asked DFS about access problems - they said if it was likely to be difficult they would do a trial delivery before accepting the order.

Yep, just regular size doors. They tried different angles but it wouldn't fit.
how will re-delivery help?
Tigger you are not alone. Both my sofas had to come in over my back garden fence and through my patio doors. Poor chaps had to load them back in the van and drive round the corner. Then unload again, carry through someone else's garden to my fence.

Next time delivery is booked I'm going to get my brother and dad round to help carry it up the ally way at the back. It's not too far to walk and they can use plastic bags round their shoes if it's still squelchy mud.
Would removing doors make any difference? It's always wise to measure up access space before ordering large furniture. Sometimes there is just no way to get it in. I hope you can solve it.

This happened to me once when I was living at a previous address. The second set of delivery men managed it no problem so try not to fret too much
ah i see, gotcha!
and UPVC doors tend to have bigger frames which makes the opening smaller.

That's what I'm hoping, Barry.
Its a bit like wing mirrors on cars, they get bigger every year, but the parking spots get smaller.
Get a car like mine where I push a button and the wing mirrors fold in:-)
Lady, can you reverse with them already folded in. :0)
I've put my gear stick in reverse to move out of my parking spot many a time Tpot and then slammed my brakes on as I couldn't see where I was going:-)
Buy an IKEA sofa. It arrives in bits.
Years ago my family had a leather sofa delivered they had to remove the living room window to get it into our house.
