Our village rowing club held a 5K fun run today. Dozens of children involved so Dave played Santa to hand out gifts as the children finished.
I only left him for a few minutes to fetch the car and he ended up in the club with the village priest for the blessing of the boats.
The priest's a bit over enthusiastic with his holy water sprinkler and blessed not only the boats but Santa too.
I was going to ask if this would turn Dave into a goody two shoes...then I saw his answer on the What's for Dinner Thread.

You surprise me, gness. I understood that no holy water has been dispensed by Clergy since the pandemic on instruction of the Vatican.
I may be wrong...

they may have substituted whiskey for the duration, choux

Choux....if the other rules the Catholic Church here hasn't followed I can't see them doing away with firing holy water at anything that stands still. This chap certainly sprays his sprinkler at every opportunity.

That's a thought, Jno. I may think about lining up for that one.
I understood from my bff who is an Irish Catholic that the clergy have replaced all holy water with sanitizing stations now. Even church fonts have been emptied. Goodness knows what Dave was sprayed with ;)

All the fonts have been emptied, Choux. Dipping fingers when you don't know where they've been could be a problem.
This is his own sprinkler and he fires it with enthusiasm so I guess it's okay.
First time Dave experienced it was at the opening of our Hub. Full of computers and electrics and the priest firing water around. Though the funniest was when he tried to water the Protestant vicar who flatly refused.
I can see now why Prince Charles brought back all that Holy Water for the royal christenings.
