There are lots of old musical films on over the next few weeks.
These are the ones on Freeview.
Carousel and South Pacific on Monday
Guys and Dolls Wednesday
Meet me in St Louis Xmas day
Singin in the rain Boxing day
My Fair lady, 7 brides for 7 brothers, Calamity Jane, West side story Monday 27th
Lots more recent musicals as well.
There are a few films I'm looking forward to that I haven't seen before like Saving Mr Banks, A star is born (remake) Judy with Renee Zellweger.
Which films can you recommend and are there any you are looking forward to watching?

There are very few musicals I like. But South Pacific is one. So thanks Barsel. I loved The King and I and West Side Story.
Oh my gosh Chris I love return to the forbidden planet! We saw it at the savoy!
I also love Schindler's List. But not really Christmas time film.
Saving Mr Banks is brilliant and of course Some Like it Hot and Matilda. Heaven. Also see my recent thread and Happy Christmas all x
I want to watch (or record) Carousel and South Pacific, and A Star is Born, but isn't it with Lady Gaga not Renee Zellweger ? I hope it can do justice to the Barbara Streisand one, which I loved.
In the Heights is like a modern West Side Story, all in rap, which is not something I know a lot about but it's brilliant all the same
oh, I missed a page and didn't see Mozz had recommended it too

Shirley yes, I omitted a comma after (remake) It's Judy with Renee Zellweger.
A star is born with Judy Garland is on Monday 27th and the one with Lady Gaga is on Wednesday 29th.
Ok thanks Barsel.
Mr B won’t watch a musical , he’s a big like Sqad although he sits trawling through old cowboy films , it’s the little boy in him haha
I love Holiday Inn especially this time of year and Singing in the Rain
/Give me:
Sink the Bismarck
Dambusters
633 Squadron
Cockleshell Heroes
Battle of Britain./

Sqad. Would you like to come here for Christmas and perhaps I can come over to be with Mrs Squad. Between you and Mr Lottie, I am sure you can find a lot more of those damn films I am subjected to again and again!!
i doubt if there will be time to watch any Christmas tv, as i am away at my brothers on Thursday, and there are lots of things planned. But might just have Carousel on today, the killer is You'll never walk alone, as it always makes me weep, so will see..
i love musicals and have a vast collection of dvd's including most of those listed, i do watch them from time to time, my favourites being Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in anything.
Musical films

Can't see the point
pure escapism, some have good plots, not least West Side story, the retelling of Romeo and Juliet.
Also those conveyor belt of Christmas films being shown on Channel 5 during the day , bores the pants off me

Err indoors have always got them on
more escapism i suppose, i don't watch them to be fair.
