AJ and Kai are out...she has had to withdraw from the final due to a torn ligament.
What a shame after so much work.

It's heartening to see so many people focus on the dancers and the entertainment value of this year's final rather than the legitimacy of the dancers themselves (some have said that having a same sex couple and a disabled dancer was mere 'woke box-ticking' when in fact they were pretty brilliant).

Renewed faith!
Two men dancing together will never get the votes of the older generation........doesn't seem right.

/////and her deafness theme drew in the votes.//

The correct result.
I don't see deafness as being disabled as we have deaf people in the family. But it has to be admitted that a lot was made of her deafness, including in one of her dances and as we all know that does draw in votes.

Actually, I was put off last night by some of the emotional aspects...and the constant queries as to what dancer A wants to thank dancer B for. It seemed more OTT than usual.
/Sqad Two men dancing together will never get the votes of the older generation........doesn't seem right./

Not true Sqad. Nothing to do with age. And definitely not in our household. And My husband is what might be labelled as a real 'man's man'. He thought the boys were by far the best dancers.

Well, I'm old and they got my votes.
Pasta.....agreed but they were 3 dances short so had to fill in the gap.
Pasta...you're a one off oldie lol-;)

Yes...bring on the tears!
Fair enough Pat, I was just quoting the comments of Mrs sqad and her mates.

;) xx
i agree a lot was made of her disability, about as much as was made of the same sex partnerness (i also heard mention of their mixed raceness, completely overlooking the fact last years' winners were also mixed race, as were aj and kai, as were judy wotsit and her partner). none of that mattered tho - the best dancers were in the final and the best dancers probably won
It was a superb show throughout and yes, it was rather emotional too.
Though very different in style, either couple could have won.
I split my votes 4/2 in J&J's favour, but am wholly satisfied with Rose lifting the trophy.
and rhys and nancy of course
Wouldn't be too many men's men watching SCD around these parts.
If I'd known 2 men were dancing together, I'd have stuck the house on them.
but you'd've lost sr!
Yeah, I was lucky.
Earnest, very earnest.

The bar is set high for next year.
I really wanted Rose and Gio to win, but they were the best dancers anyway, so I recorded the show in order that when I read in the press who had won, I could go to the end and watch their well deserved joy and yes, it made me cry. Two men dancing together, in my opinion, were never going to win and I hope they don't have any more same sex couples ever again. Not for me.
it's a shame your self imposed exile made you miss the dances shirley, they were great!
