Nicely spotted, emmie, but an honourable mention for mally for 'mandarin'.

There are quite a few 5-letter grid positions but all bar one can be eliminated, although you have to assume that 7 = E to eliminate some of them. (There are 17 of them at with quite a few at word ends.)

After that, 'mango' works out, although the word with Q isn't at all common.
