50-60 years ago I remember a lot of publicity for weeks on end about an estranged couple`s young child. The British mother had been awarded custody, but the French father managed to take the child to France and vowed she would never see him again. Can anyone else remember this case, or know what happened?

Thank you very much, especially Buenchico. I had forgotten some people remembered the case more accurately than me, but never saw the "what happened next" post. I am so glad the child was returned to her mother, and hope at least most of the parties lived happily thereafter, Still,(and bearing in mind current events,) I was sorry the desire for spiteful revenge that motivated the father only led to his unhappiness.
