What’s next? Depends, I suppose. If you believe it’s still sensible to isolate people, paralysing the healthcare and transport sectors (amongst others), in order to reduce the spread of a mild disease against which the vast majority of the population are vaccinated, then crack on and lock yourself away for a week.
//Then you need to isolate for 7 days. Not the end of the world.//
Depends again. If you need to work for a living and are self-employed or on a zero hours contract, it may not be the end of the world but it will certainly cause you some financial hardship to remain at home when you are not ill.
//Feel better soon.//
But he doesn’t feel unwell!
With more than 200,000 new infections reported today (albeit a figure distorted by lack of counting since New Year's Eve) there are likely to be hundreds of thousands of people in the UK who have Covid and are showing no symptoms as they go about their daily business. With that number of plague carriers it is absolutely crazy to insist that people test themselves for no reason at all. The single most important action the government can take to end this madness is to immediately end mass free testing for people who are not ill. If you feel ill enough to believe you might need medical help, take a test. If you don’t, simply do what you would normally do if you feel unwell. If you don’t feel unwell do what you would normally do in those circumstances – go about your daily business.
I’m pleased to read that there is now a broad opinion among some “experts” that mass testing must come to an end. All it needs is for the government to become of like mind. Covid is here to stay and testing/ isolating has to stop now that Covid is relatively mild for the vast majority of sufferers and that vaccines and treatments are now available.
