Asda Reduced Price Shelf....

.....on my local Asda knock down shelf I spotted a pack of salmon fillets reduced by 25%. I picked up said pack. At the same time a member of staff was marking up further price reductions. I asked if the price could be reduced of said pack further and was told said No as I had removed pack from shelf.

I asked if I had not removed pack but simply pointed to it then yes the price would be reduced further.

Can someone explain the logic (if any) to this.

They want to sell the item...you've removed it from the shelf because you want to buy it - so why should they reduce it further?
It's already on the way out of the store!

Just put it back and lurk further down the aisle. It does work as I've done that. You may have to leave the aisle and go back.

but some customers are not above sticking a within date item under their schnozzle....

I've asked if I can get a further reduction...no problem. But it's in Sainsbury's.
