When you populate a world that consists entirely of thought, prayer, and contemplation, and a condition of your place in it is the absence of a loving relationship and children, lest they distract you from it, then your world can only benefit from more people being theoretically able to grow up and join in.
The simple practicalities of raising children are lost on the priesthood, it is alien to them as their strange world is to us.
So we should not be angry with the old gentleman, who is charged with providing guidance to millions of people who follow his church.
Simply accept that if you don't play the game, you don't get a say in writing the rules.

pat - the care home would be staffed by a younger generation than yours (ours), which is the point I was trying to make.
My wife and I both favour euthanasia, if it becomes possible, as we don't believe we have the right to lumber a younger generation with our care. I don't believe that children have a responsibility to look after their own parents; we chose to have our daughter, she didn't choose us, although we get on extremely well.
