Help With Ebay Problem Please.

Bought an air freshener thing from eBay and it didn't work, so contacted the seller who sent me a returns label who someone printed for me, stuck it on the box , took it to the Post Office who said ,'We can't accept it, it doesn't have a barcode.'
Contacted the seller who said it is correct, it's the one we always use.
Contacted them again and said well the Post Office won't accept it ,so what do you suggest and they said send it back using the most economical way!
Have contacted them again and said you are not being very helpful. I'm not paying to return it as it's faulty.
Where can I go with this? Can I contact eBay about it and if so, how?

Chris, according to that, there is one of those in the next street and yet I've never noticed it.
In my mind now I'm thinking if there is a barcode there will be tracking of the parcel.
If there isn't a barcode there should be some other reference on the label that would show when the seller receives it?
I can't go out now until Friday so hopefully I will have heard back from eBay with their suggestion which could possibly be to put it in one of those parcel boxes.
TTT, it isn't the cost, it's the principle always, with me.
Thanks to all of you for your answers.

Have you got a different post office branch you can try?
Perhaps the person at the branch you tried expects a barcode - another person might be more clued-up on barcode-less items.
You could ask when the post-master/sub-postmaster would be on duty and go then.
As its a prepaid lable then it should be accepted by the Post Office.

TTT I haven't said the price of it but I will say it was between £10 - £15 and that is too much for me to spend on a faulty item.
When I first took it, it was to my main P.O and the girl asked me to put it on the scales.
When I said it was a pre paid label she called her supervisor who told me it didn't have a barcode and so I would have to pay.
It was the supervisor who advised me to contact the seller for a different label but,
I will take it to my local P.O when I am out and about on Friday as I know the girl who works there well and I'm sure she will explain it to me and advise me what to do.

The QR option is an alternative to you printing a label.
That link gave 3 options - 1. prepaid (you), 2. print label from a code (if you don't have a label) or 3. you pay to post.
You can ask for certificate of postage, but it won't be tracked - thats where the barcode comes into the situation. You don't need a barcode for certificate of postage.
